Register plug & play system with the local grid operator

In Switzerland, low-voltage electrical products must meet the requirements of the Ordinance on Low-Voltage Electrical Products (NEV; SR 734.26) in order to be placed on the market. This also applies to plug-and-play systems. For safety reasons, plug-and-play solar installations must therefore be reported in writing to the local grid operator before commissioning.

Plug & Play solar energy systems must be reported in writing to the local grid operator before commissioning. Please contact your local grid operator to find out the registration requirements.

You must enclose the declaration of conformity for the product for registration. The declarations of conformity for all plug-and-play systems offered in the store can be found below:

Feed-in tariff

In terms of cost-effectiveness, it is crucial that as much solar power as possible is consumed directly. However, surplus electricity can be fed into the grid, for which the grid operator must pay a feed-in tariff. Please contact your responsible grid operator for the feed-in tariff. You will need a smart meter for the feed-in tariff. Once you have registered with the grid operator, they will check whether a meter needs to be replaced. If this is the case, you will be contacted accordingly. The meter change is free of charge for you.

Frequently asked questions

  • Does the SolMate Wall balcony power plant comply with the relevant regulations in Switzerland? Yes, EET as developer and manufacturer confirms compliance with the relevant EU standards and regulations.
  • Can I operate several LightMates in one household? In Switzerland, up to 600W nominal power per household is permitted. We offer the 780W combination with one 300W micro inverter per solar panel to meet the legal requirements.
  • Are there any subsidies for the purchase of the LightMate Wall balcony power plant? Some municipalities offer individual subsidies for balcony power plants. Contact your local authority to find out whether there are any such programs.
  • Do I need an electrician for installation? No, you can install the LightMate Wall balcony power station yourself in around 30-40 minutes.
  • How long is the cable for the mains connection? The cable is 5 meters long and can be extended with an extension cable suitable for outdoor use if required.
  • Can I also use SolMate independently of the public power grid? Yes, that is possible! Thanks to the integrated socket, you can set up a self-sufficient power grid with SolMate. Whether in your hut, your vacation home or when camping - SolMate offers you the flexibility to operate a stand-alone grid.
  • Can I use SolMate as an emergency power supply? Yes, SolMate has a built-in socket that you can use for an emergency power supply. In the event of a power failure in your home, you can continue to operate the most important appliances.
  • How long can the electricity be stored? The storage unit has a capacity of 1 kWh and stores the energy until you use it. Storage losses are minimal, so the battery remains fully charged for many weeks to months when not in use if the storage unit is switched off. When the storage system is switched on without new solar energy, your SolMate remains active for 1-2 weeks before the battery is empty. The storage unit mainly serves as a buffer: during the day it is charged when the sun shines, and you can use the surplus energy at night.
  • Do I need a smartphone to control my SolMate? No, a smartphone is not absolutely necessary. You can also access SolMate from any laptop, PC or Mac with an internet connection. Simply go to mysolmate.eet.energy in your web browser, start the web app and enter your serial number and password. Alternatively, you can of course also use the MySolMate app in the App Store or Google Play Store once you have successfully connected SolMate to the internet.
  • How does grid operation (on-grid mode) work? Once SolMate and the panels have been properly installed, switch SolMate on using the toggle switch under the magnetic back cover and turn the rotary switch to "12 o'clock". SolMate must be connected to a household socket for this. Your SolMate covers basic consumption during the day and charges the battery until the evening. After sunset, electricity is fed in from the battery to cover your basic consumption at night.
  • How does stand-alone operation (off-grid mode) work? Once SolMate and the panels have been properly installed, switch SolMate on using the toggle switch under the magnetic back cover and turn the rotary switch to "3 o'clock". SolMate does not need to be unplugged for this. You can then use your own solar power via the integrated socket on the SolMate. Please note, however, that the integrated socket supplies a modified sine wave and not every electrical device can be operated with it.
  • Can I only use SolMate in stand-alone mode (off-grid mode)? Basically yes, but be careful: If you operate SolMate in off-grid mode and use the electricity generated on a daily basis, this is not a problem. However, if you leave the storage system permanently connected in off-grid mode, the battery will be permanently charged to the maximum, which will shorten the battery life. This should be avoided.
  • Can SolMate operate any technical device in stand-alone mode (off-grid mode)? No, SolMate can only operate devices up to 600 W (1100 W starting current). The off-grid inverter generates a modified sine wave, which means that not all electronic devices will run without interference. Examples of suitable devices are: computers/laptops, energy-saving lamps, cell phone chargers and hi-fi systems. You can find a detailed list under the following link.
  • Can I combine SolMate with my own photovoltaic panels? Yes, that is possible! In our online store we offer SolMate without solar panels and mounting bracket. All necessary cables and adapters for connecting standard panels are included. However, the panels must not have more than 42 volts and must be connected in parallel.
  • How many solar modules can I operate with one storage unit? Depending on the variant, 8 flexible or 4 rigid solar modules are included with SolMate. One or two additional panels are possible and can provide additional power if the alignment is suboptimal. More panels are not recommended, as a maximum of 500 watts can be fed in.
  • When will my SolMate pay for itself? That depends on your consumption! With SolMate you save around 25 % of the energy costs of an average Swiss household, which corresponds to around 600 kWh per year. SolMate also offers an integrated emergency power supply, which pays for itself the first time there is a prolonged power cut. You can also use the system independently when camping or in your vacation cabin.
  • Can the SolMate also be operated offline? Yes, if you don't have a Wi-Fi connection, you can operate SolMate in offline mode by connecting to SolMate's Wi-Fi, opening a web browser and entering the IP address 192.168.4.1. You will be given access to the web interface where you can view the current status and make settings. However, we recommend connecting SolMate to the Internet to receive software updates and optimizations.
