Note on Installation and Reporting Requirements
In Switzerland, charging stations for electric vehicles must be registered with the relevant distribution network operator in accordance with the applicable regulations—even when connected via a standard outlet (e.g., 230V or CEE).
According to the Low-Voltage Installation Ordinance (NIV), electrical installations may only be carried out by a licensed electrical contractor. In practice, these companies usually also handle the registration via the Technical Connection Application (TAG).
DIY installations are permitted only with the appropriate authorization from the Federal High-Voltage Inspectorate (ESTI).
Unreported or improperly installed systems can lead to grid problems and liability risks.
